Hello, how are you? I’m back today with some more colour inspiration I’ve found on Instagram. I kicked off this series last month, did you catch it? Instagram is a great source of inspiration – almost for anything and everything – and through this post I how to share and gush about the photos and feeds I love. So without further ado, here are a few colours to inspire you…
As we’ve had Valentine’s day recently I thought I’d opt for a pink theme of colour inspiration. I’m naturally drawn to pinks and how they match with other shades, so picking four ideas through my Instagram likes was a fun task. Below you’ll find details of the Instagrammer who posted the picture, alongside notes and ideas on the colours and how they inspire.
Before I get started, even though these are all pictures from homemade makes I hope these can inspire you in other ways too (should you not be a crafter). Perhaps you’re looking to decorate your house this year, or thinking about buying some new furniture, or looking for a new wardrobe, I’d hope there’s something for everyone here.
Photo from Geraldine at littlebigbell. Geraldine is the key of finding colour inspiration and I’ve been in love with her Instagram feed for a long time. I can’t help but feel happy when I see these shades of pinks come together in this photo of a group of balloons, there’s something a bit bubblegum about it that makes me smile. Image these colours in a little girls’ room or in a piece of clothing – instant happiness, plus you could easily tone it down by introducing more white to the palette.
Photo from Holly at holly_pips. Another Instagram feed I love is from Holly, who shares her crochet makes (amongst other crafts) alongside pics of her beautiful little girl, Pip, and new baby, Milo. Holly is the queen of crochet and has made some great pieces and picks colours really well. In this C2C crochet blanket I really like how she teamed up the pink with the purple, cream and green – there’s something really cosy about it. Keep an eye on Holly’s feed for more inspiration, she starts and finishes projects super quickly!
Photo from Helena at helipie_. I enjoy seeing how pinks are matched with other colours – yellows, greens, purples etc. and in this post I was really drawn to the orange and peaches teamed up with the fuchsia and baby pink shades. It’s all bought together with the white bordering, making for a fun and colourful blanket. This style of blanket is actually on my WIP list to make this year for our living room, once I’ve chosen the shade. Helena’s feed is full of pinks so naturally I love it!
Photo from Shelley-Jayne at dollyandthebear. Ahhh purple, purple is one of those colours I’m not naturally drawn to but, since working with it for the Heidi Bear pony at the end of the last year, I’ve started to look at it differently. While I think I prefer a darker and stronger purple, I really like how Shelley-Jane has teamed this up with pinks and creams – plus the hexagon style of the blanket is gorgeous. Another colour scheme perhaps suited to a baby girl, I think this style and selection of shades is really pretty.
Which is your favourite? Any that specifically stand out? I’m on the lookout for more combinations, so shout if you see anything on your travels and I might pop it in a later post.
