Today on the LoveKnitting blog I‘m sharing my fourth knitting for beginners tutorial. So far we’ve tackled a tea cosy, a hot water bottle and a cowl, so what could the project be?
A baby cardigan that’ll challenge you but definitely reward you for your perseverance. There are heaps of new skills you’ll learn and the reason we’ve included it in this series is because it’ll give you an introduction to knitting clothes. Starting a baby garment is an easy way to get started before you work up to knitting something for an adult (hello snug wooly cardigans!). So let’s get started…
What you’ll learn from lesson four of knitting for beginners:
- Bobble stitch
- Picking up stitches and knitting across pieces
- Adding buttons
- Sewing pieces together
- This pattern
- 4mm knitting needles
- 3.25mm knitting needles
- Peter Pan DK – Baby pink (305) 100g
- Yarn needle
- Safety pins
- Stitch holders
- 5 buttons
Head on over to LoveKnitting now for my full tutorial – including a step by step guide, lots of photos and lots more!
I’ll be back next week with the final tutorial – looking at Swiss Darning. If you have any knitting questions feel free to drop me an email.
