Learn to knit with Simple Stylish Knitting magazine

Knitting Vs. crochet, which do you prefer? I’m definitely team knitting; crochet seems like something all the cool kids do. Combine that with modern patterns, magazines, super cute amigurumi patterns and knitting has been left behind. Wrongly seen as an ‘old lady’ craft by many.

So you can imagine my excitement when I was contacted by the team at Simple Stylish Knitting about their new weekly magazine. The magazine is a joy; full of modern and easy-to-pick-up patterns, it’s just the thing the knitting community has been shouting out for. Plus, each issue includes a pattern for two squares that eventually can be made into a throw (the colours are so pretty).

The team asked me to take on their fox iPad cover from issue one (using Rowan yarn) and I happily obliged. I have a rather unhealthy obsession with foxes and my collection of paraphernalia increases every week, so it was the perfect project for me.

If you’re new to knitting Simple Stylish Knitting is a great magazine for you – step by step instructions, clear patterns and items you’ll love so much you’ll want to knit. The fox iPad cover is made using stocking stitch, a bit of ribbing at the top and double stitching, using a grid pattern included.

Isn’t that funny – I’d have said that knitting has had the ‘cool’ reputation and crochet has been seen as the little old lady craft. I think it’s only in the last two or three years that it’s started to come level – I’m clearly out of the loop if it’s moved ahead! But I’m ambi-crafty so it doesn’t make much difference either way – and I love the fox on that iPad cover – wouldn’t it look sweet on a little jumper.

Hi Carie, oh that is interesting! Maybe it’s because I can knit and can’t crochet that I feel out of the loop? Thanks for your comment – I totally agree about the fox motif on a jumper, so cute. 🙂 xx

I think knitting and crochet are equally as cool as one another!! I am always so envious of people who can knit socks. I must do a course!

Love the foxy ipad case 🙂

Oooh really? Maybe it’s just me – crochet just seems to be perceived as so much ‘cooler’. Knitted socks is definitely something I’d like to learn – let’s do it! xx
